Pilates is a physical fitness system developed in the early 20th century by Joseph Pilates to help build long, lean muscles, increase flexibility, strength and endurance. It puts emphasis on spinal and pelvic alignment as well as breathing to relieve stress and allow adequate oxygen flow to muscles. Joseph Pilates had a studio in New York with the equipments he invented such as the Cadillac, Reformer, Ladder Barrel, etc to help individuals achieve better results.
Our studio is fully equipped and offers not only mat but equipment sessions.
'Joseph Pilates designed his exercises to be performed on specialised apparatus, and later developed mat exercises to allow his students to practise at home' (NHS choices). It can be effective in rehabilitation assisting individuals to complete movements successfully, aiding safe recovery. Equipments can also provide resistance and therefore challenge highly trained individuals.
