Pilates® is open to anybody, young and old, the sporty type, the office worker, and those in physiotherapy. Pilates® is for anyone who wants to increase his or her strength and suppleness without creating bulk. In regular exercise, Pilates® helps prevent muscle injuries and the forming of scar tissue. It is no surprise the method was first used by dancers like Martha Graham and George Balanchine. When physiotherapists and chiropractors finally discovered the method, Pilates® proved to be a very effective tool for the rehabilitation of patients. The increasing demand from health-aware people for a safe and effective exercise method, has led a growing number of people to regard the Pilates® Method as their main form of exercise.
